10/9/20
Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,
I'm happy to report that the Boxcast system is up and running for our live-stream Masses! The sound is much better than before. However, Murphy's law came into play: Saturday night our internet went down and wasn't restored until after the 9 am Mass, so we only recorded 3 of the Sunday Masses.
People have asked me which Masses we'll record, often hinting that they wanted their Mass recorded. The best option is to record all 4 Sunday Masses. You can watch them live on the parish website, or on the parish Facebook or Youtube pages. If watching a recorded Mass after the fact, you should be able to watch them on the parish Facebook or Youtube page.
Many are considering when they should return to Mass in person. If you are looking for the least attended Mass, then come to the Saturday night 5:30 pm Vigil Mass- it has long been and continues to be the smallest Sunday Mass. On Sunday itself, the 9 am Mass has the smallest crowd. If your concern is the A/C, we are no longer running the A/C because it is not necessary as we enter Fall. The church has taped and roped off pews to ensure proper social distancing, and ushers make sure it is enforced– including masks. We continually strive to protect the safety of those attending Masses at St. Joseph's.
Currently, the Cardinal has suspended the Sunday Mass obligation so no one is required to attend Sunday Mass. If you are high risk then you should consider remaining at home and live streaming our Sunday Masses. If you would like to return to in-person Sunday Masses and receive communion, St. Joseph's continues to provide as safe an environment as possible. I look forward to eventually seeing everyone back at St. Joseph's!
This weekend we are having the Cardinal's Appeal in pew pitch. Normally this event would have taken place last Spring, but we all know what happened then! Please consider giving to the Cardinal's Appeal– and make sure to list St. Joseph as your parish. Even if you can only give a small amount it helps because the Archdiocese counts the percentage of a parish that gives.
Finally, this Tuesday at 7 pm we're holding the Confirmation Mass for the children who would have received Confirmation this previous Spring. Please keep them in your prayers.
God Bless,
Fr. Boniface
